Location Scouting

This is one of the only photos I could find online. This is probably because they do not allow photos.

We had a stellar plan for filming a portion of our project at Scream-A-Geddon. Mainly we wanted some shots of the houses to include in our montage to portray the state of the world. I went to talk to the manager since I was passing through, and he said no 😦 Honestly this location would have been perfect for the vibes we are going for, but it wasn’t meant to be. Their reasons were all valid and I’m not too pressed.

I thought it would be a good idea to shoot at another haunted house. The main problem we’ve run into is the fact that many are not set up all year or they are occupied. So, we’ve decided to drive around our area and pull over when we see any sort of destruction. We have also scoured real estate websites for abandoned home for sale by the bank. An issue with the idea of pulling over is that many people own/live in homes that we think fit the vibe of our movie, and we do not want to trespass or offend anyone.

Here are some photos of places we would like to visit (mind you these locations will only be for a short montage that will play during a roughly 30 second voiceover to provide context):

I posted a photo on my Snapchat story asking if anyone knew of abandoned homes near them, and Ryan Mish responded with this!
This is in Tampa, so quite a far drive, but it just gave the idea of finding some sort of abandoned grassy area that may have at one point been used by the homeless (with trash laying around)

The roof of this house is what I like the most, it is very rusty and worn looking.
This is a closed down restaurant on 41 that used to be called Lakeside In.

These will not be the only locations used, or maybe some won’t be used, but it is a good start to our plan.

For the main plot of our film, we want to film in a deserted field surrounded by trees (to look like a hidden clearing). We have picked 2 options of where this would work best.

This field is closer to my house, and would definitely be a second choice. The grass and trees are both dead looking but this makes the trees incredibly hard to climb, which a key part of the plot of our sequence.
This is right by Kylers house, and so far it is the best option because of the trees. These trees look climbable and the position can make it look like a clearing.

As of right now, scouting location is fairly complete, as much of it is somewhat random in order to get the shots for the montage.
